Vincenzo Poerio has resigned as chief executive of Tankoa Yachts as SRI Group Global Limited’s proposed €220 million purchase of The Italian Sea Group (TISG) advances through a court-supervised restructuring process.
Industry reports confirmed his departure early in November. He has been involved as operational lead of the SRI consortium and is linked to a potential leadership role at TISG if its bid succeeds. No appointment has been finalised.
TISG’s board selected SRI’s offer as the reference bid for its restructuring plan on the same day, after reviewing five binding proposals.
The proposed transaction covers the entire operating business, with an interim lease preceding any completed sale.
“The selected bid has not yet been accepted by the company, as this requires prior authorisation from the Court of Florence,” TISG said in a statement.
Bidding round
A further bidding round will seek improved offers, and final purchaser selection remains subject to court authorisation and assessments of bidders’ ability to fulfil their commitments.
TISG said a lease agreement could be signed in the first week of December, while a hearing is scheduled for 11 November.
Poerio joined the Genoa-based Tankoa in 2020, following senior roles at Fincantieri and Benetti.
The shipyard has expanded facilities supporting its custom yacht programme, including hull and superstructure production at Civitavecchia and additional operations in Genoa associated with the historic Otam yard.
The reported resignation does not establish any change to those projects or existing yacht-building contracts. Likewise, SRI’s selection as reference bidder does not complete a takeover or confirm a new management team at TISG.
