Propspeed has appointed Joe Mercurio as Gulf Coast sales manager and technical support representative.
Mercurio will be responsible for developing regional customer relationships and providing sales, product and technical assistance. His territory covers the west coast of Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi.
He joins the New Zealand-founded foul-release coatings manufacturer with more than 20 years of marine industry experience.
His background includes sales-channel development and brand management, including work with Yanmar Marine International.
Propspeed chief executive Marcus Hamilton said technical knowledge and an understanding of customers’ businesses were central to the company’s regional sales approach.
Product assistance
“Joe’s marine industry experience, sales background and deep ties to the Gulf Coast make him a strong fit for our team and the partners we serve,” he said.
Hamilton added that Mercurio would support distributors, marine businesses and applicators by combining commercial development with practical product assistance.
Mercurio said his boating and fishing background had shaped his career in the marine sector.
“Working in the marine industry lets me pass that on, introducing new people to the water and helping them enjoy it,” he said.
He added: “I’m looking forward to bringing that Gold Standard experience to the Gulf Coast, strengthening relationships with our distributors, marine business owners and applicators.”
Propspeed develops biocide-free foul-release coatings for propellers, underwater running gear, transducers and underwater lighting.
The company operates internationally through marine distributors, yards, manufacturers and trained applicators.
