RINA appoints new group chief executive

RINA has appointed Paolo Moretti as group chief executive and general manager as the certification and engineering company moves into its next phase of growth.

Moretti succeeds Carlo Luzzatto, who had led the group since December 2023. Ugo Salerno will remain executive chairman, with responsibility for communications and institutional relations.

The leadership change follows a period in which RINA more than doubled revenue over five years. The group reported revenue of more than €1 billion in 2025 and employs over 7,000 people across 200 offices in 70 countries.

“We have achieved an extraordinary growth trajectory, more than doubling our revenues over the past five years to well over one billion euros,” said Salerno.

“Today, we are entering a new phase, focused on accelerating our development further. Paolo Moretti’s experience, market knowledge and contribution to the Group’s growth provide a strong foundation for leading RINA, building on the quality of our services and the expertise of our people.”

Growth strategy

Under the revised structure, Giosuè Vezzuto has succeeded Moretti as chief executive of RINA Services, the group company operating in the marine and certification sectors. The changes support the growth strategy agreed with shareholders Registro Italiano Navale and Fondo Italiano d’Investimento.

Moretti, a naval engineer, joined RINA in 1997 and has held senior roles in Italy and internationally. His previous positions include general manager marine, executive vice-president of marine strategic development and chief commercial officer. He served as chief executive of RINA Services from 2020 to 2026.

“I have spent much of my career at RINA and have seen first-hand the calibre of our people and the company’s ability to anticipate change,” Moretti said.

“Our challenge is to continue turning our strategic objectives into tangible results and investing in more advanced, increasingly digital services.”

RINA provides services across energy, marine, infrastructure and mobility, certification, industry and real estate. Its activities include classification, testing, inspection, certification and engineering consultancy.
