Argentina football legend Leo Messi has ordered a Sunreef ULTIMA 88 catamaran, currently under construction at the Polish yacht builder’s shipyard in the UAE.
The yacht will join Messi’s MIM Ocean fleet, based in the Balearic Islands, with the vessel intended for private family use and guest experiences at sea.
The ULTIMA 88 will have four guest cabins and a full-beam owner’s suite. Its accommodation and deck arrangement include Sunreef’s Ocean Lounge, which provides access to the water for swimming and watersports, together with outdoor seating and lounging areas.
A dedicated garage will carry a jet ski, while the flybridge provides further space for leisure and exercise. The yacht will use twin 1,000hp engines. Sunreef has not published projected speed, range, fuel capacity or other technical performance figures for Messi’s vessel.
Privacy and family time
Sunreef founder and chief executive Francis Lapp said the order reflected the owner’s interest in privacy and family time on the water.
“Leo Messi embodies an extraordinary level of excellence, but what makes this new chapter particularly meaningful to us is what happens beyond the spotlight,” said Lapp.

Time at sea
Messi said Sunreef’s design and equipment matched his requirements and that time at sea was already part of his family life.
“It’s a real pleasure to join the Sunreef family. My family and I have always loved spending time at sea whenever we get the chance,” he said.
“Sunreef Yachts have the style and features I really like, and they’re a perfect fit for what I’m looking for. I’m really looking forward to experiencing the ULTIMA 88 and enjoying it with my family.”
The ULTIMA line combines catamaran living space with a motor-yacht profile. Messi’s 88ft model will extend Sunreef’s UAE build programme and add another high-profile owner to its customer base.
The company has not released details of custom interior finishes or construction milestones.
