Nautor Swan returns to 22-metre segment

Nautor Swan is returning to the 22-metre sailing segment with the new Swan 73.

The new yacht is designed to offer comparable levels of comfort to maxi yachts while offering ease of handling and versatility.

The yacht is designed by Germán Frers and built with a vinylester-infused fiberglass laminate with sandwich structures and local carbon reinforcements in both the hull and deck.

The design represents an evolution of Swan’s yachts with distinctive features including an offset companionway, an asymmetrical cockpit and integrated running rigging, all contributing to a deck layout designed to aid fluid and intuitive movement.

Visibility and control

The Swan 73’s layout allows for operation even with reduced crew, while twin helms provide visibility and control.

“From the earliest sketches, the intention with Luca Ardizio was to create exterior lines that reflect the purity of Germán Frers’ hulls, combining elegance and fluidity with a refined balance of form, proportion, and performance,” explained Antonio Santella, new product development senior advisor.

The interior layout is versatile, with an aft galley and crew area to port and configurations available in three or four guest cabins.

Forward, flexible arrangements allow for either an expanded owner’s bathroom or a walk-in wardrobe.

Heritage

The interior is designed by Blend Studio with Canaletto walnut features for depth and richness and light-toned fabrics, wall finishes and surfaces for brightness and tactile comfort.

“The project draws from the heritage of Swan yachts, reimagined through a contemporary lens,” explained founder Cecilia Perotti.

“The result is a space defined by soft transitions, curved geometries and a harmonious flow.”

The deck is divided into four living areas. The foredeck offers a private sunbathing lounge, optionally shaded by an Arabian-style tent, with the possibility of accommodating a large tender.

Short-handed sailing

In the middle is a guest cockpit connecting interior and exterior living. An optional rigid roof, transforms the area into a veranda or a fully enclosed and climate-controlled environment.

Further aft, the sailing cockpit has twin helms, winches and control systems arranged for short-handed sailing.

At the stern, the beach club area features a swimming platform, extendable on request, and a lazarette capable of accommodating a 2.8-metre rigid-keel RIB and additional equipment.

The new Swan 73 is being built at Nautor Swan’s Boatbuilding Technology Centre in Pietarsaari, Finland, and is scheduled to be launched in 2027.
