Red Sea Global secures licences for two Red Sea marinas

Red Sea Global has received Saudi Red Sea Authority operator licences for AMAALA Marina and Shura Marina, clearing the two sites to begin marina operations on Saudi Arabia’s north-western coast.

The facilities provide 278 berths in total and can accommodate superyachts up to 120 metres. AMAALA Marina has 119 berths focused on transient yachts and superyachts, while Shura Marina offers 159 berths for residential and recreational users.

Both sites will provide fuelling, provisioning, maintenance and concierge services. RSG said their location, about 2,000 nautical miles from Monaco, could provide an alternative seasonal base to longer winter routes from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean or Indian Ocean.

“From superyacht berthing to seamless marine services, we are disrupting the traditional global yachting circuit by introducing a new seasonal home for the world’s most discerning yacht owners and operators,” said Raed Albasseet, group chief environment and sustainability officer at RSG.

The licences include operational and environmental requirements intended to protect Red Sea biodiversity and coral reef ecosystems.

Sustainable growth

Mohammed Bukhari, vice-president of coastal tourism operations at SRSA, said the authority was working with RSG to ensure the marinas met ‘best-in-class standards’ and supported the sustainable growth of Saudi coastal tourism.

AMAALA Marina forms part of the AMAALA destination, while Shura Marina serves The Red Sea development.

RSG now has 19 resorts open across its portfolio: 11 at The Red Sea, seven at AMAALA and Thuwal Private Retreat. A further eight are scheduled to open in the coming months.

The licences were handed over in Riyadh by Bukhari to Albasseet. The approvals complete the regulatory step required for the two marinas to operate and link them to a planned Red Sea yachting corridor serving owners, charter guests, captains and crew.

The Red Sea destination began receiving guests in 2023, while AMAALA welcomed its first guests in 2026.

The developer has also opened AMAALA Yacht Club to founding members and visiting yachts.

Its newly launched Yachting Network will manage its marina and yacht club services through a single operating company.
