Trieste Shipyards has been launched as a new megayacht construction, maintenance and storage business in Friuli Venezia Giulia, backed by Seadock of the Samer Group, Yachting Expertise and regional holding company Friulia.
The company has presented the executive project for a new shipyard in the Industrial Port of Trieste, targeting luxury vessels over 30 metres and focusing particularly on the market for megayachts over 50 metres. The facility is being designed to build, maintain, refit and store yachts, with logistics capability for vessels up to 80 metres.
Friulia’s participation follows a €4.3m capital increase approved in July 2026, subscribed with private shareholders, which the company says accelerated the project and provided resources to progress the business plan, start the construction programme and support a regional supply chain for high-end yacht building and services.
The project will be developed in two phases on Seadock premises along the Industrial Canal. The first phase includes a new building adjacent to the existing Seadock facility, with an area of about 6,000sqms and a 3,000sqm hangar 25 metres high, allowing construction of the largest vessels and the simultaneous build of two yachts of around 55 metres.
Production and maintenance
Trieste Shipyards says the site will support complete production, from sheet metal cutting to final outfitting, while also allowing winter maintenance, conversions and upgrades. CNB Scarl, which has used the Seadock areas for megayacht construction in recent years, will continue to use the facility for its own yacht construction and will also act as a commercial partner.
Enrico Samer, president of Samer & Co. Shipping, said the move builds on decades of megayacht support through Trieste Yacht Service and combines Seadock’s logistics, handling equipment, heavy-lift expertise and space with Yachting Expertise’s technical, operational, management and commercial experience.
Trieste Shipyards president Gianluca Fenucci said the project could create “the hub of a large network of local companies dedicated to the design, construction, maintenance, and storage of megayachts”, while Friulia president Federica Seganti said the investment could help consolidate a high-end nautical district capable of generating skilled employment and lasting regional value.
