Dometic has begun a phased closure of its Pennsylvania, US, facility and announced a multi-million dollar investment in Tennessee.
The Swedish-headquartered company is relocating its mechanical steering and helm manufacturing operations, creating more than 90 jobs and bringing Dometic’s total Sparta, Tennessee, employment to more than 300 people.
The company says the investment will increase the facility’s manufacturing capacity.
“This investment reflects Dometic’s long-term commitment to our marine business and to manufacturing in Tennessee,” said Eric Fetchko, marine segment president of Dometic.
“Expanding our Sparta operations allows us to bring additional capabilities together in one location, strengthen our manufacturing footprint and better support our customers as we continue to grow.”
Permanently close
The Sparta facility manufactures a range of marine products such as roto-moulded fuel and ballast tanks and other roto-moulded products for industrial applications as part of Dometic’s global marine business.
The announcement follows on from a notice earlier in 2026 from Dometic stating it was closing its Limerick Township, Montgomery County, plant and moving the business to Tennessee.
It is understood around 90 people are being laid off at Limerick including approximately 40 assembly workers.
A phased rollout is underway and the plant will permanently close by the end of 2026.
Dometic announced a global restructuring programme late 2024 closing two manufacturing sites and five distribution centres as part of its strategy to consolidate its manufacturing footprint.
The relocation to Sparta is designed to optimise capacity utilisation, improve operational efficiency and to strengthen the company’s competitiveness.
Dometic has around 23 manufacturing and assembly sites across 11 countries.
