Enrico Voltolini has assumed the role of project leader at Ferrari Hypersail.
Voltolini, a nautical engineer and sailor, has experience in high-performance contexts having previously taken part in the America’s Cup on board Luna Ross and also in the SailGP championship.
He takes over as project lead from Italian yachtsman Giovanni Soldini with the aim of launching a record-breaking foiling 100ft monohull.
“Ferrari Hypersail is a project that requires different skills in its various development phases,” said John Elkan, Ferrari chairman.
“My sincerest thanks go to Giovanni for the competence and dedication with which he led the first phase of the project.”
Operational stage
Glenn Ashby and Guillaume Verdier remain part of the project which was originally scheduled to launch in 2026.
Ferrari has completed the design and construction phase of the project and is transitioning to a new operational stage focused on system integration, validation and functional integration to further enhance the yacht’s performance.
“The Ferrari Hypersail project was born from a shared path, built day after day through dialogue and collaboration between different skills, which have been able to enhance each other,” said Soldini.
“It has been a great privilege for me to take part in this adventure. I would like to sincerely thank John Elkann for his trust and for having involved me in this exciting project, Benedetto Vigna, Ferrari and the Hypersail team for having tackled the many technical challenges together.
And he also thanked everyone who has worked on the flying monohull stating that the ‘boat is the result of a collective effort of great value, of which we are all proud’.
