MBO at DMS Holland as co-founder steps down

Dynamic Marine Systems (DMS Holland) co-founder Patrick Noor is stepping down after 13 years at the helm, with a management buyout (MBO) currently underway.

Noor will remain a silent shareholder in the business with the remaining shares acquired by the new management: Sietse van der Zee, Arnold van Aken, and Rens van Hal.

Noor founded DMS Holland together with Arnold van Aken, with the company growing out of a career that began in 2006 in the maritime sector, first as a sales engineer at VT Naiad Holland and later, in 2010, as sales director at WhisperPower.

“In 2013, I took the plunge into entrepreneurship,” he explained.

“I became the exclusive distributor for RotorSwing and agent for AntiRoll. Later, in 2015, I joined forces with Arnold van Aken, the technical brain behind the current MagnusMaster, Universal, and our All-In-One stabilisation system.”

That moment marked the true beginning of what DMS has become today.

He added: “That moment marked the true beginning of what DMS has become today: the global stabilisation specialist for yachts up to 30 meters.”

In 2021, the duo added ARG to their portfolio and over the last four years have concentrated on building the US market.

And he said the decision to step down was not one that was taken lightly, but it comes at the right time for him, his family and for the future of DMS.

With the MBO, the company can look to the future with confidence, said Noor.

New opportunities

“From the very beginning, he has played an important role in building what we are today: a company with a solid foundation and a dedicated team,” said the company in a statement.

“With that foundation, we look to the future with confidence. The company is ready to continue growing, seize new opportunities and build on the work that Patrick has helped to make possible.

“We thank him for his dedication, inspiration and contribution to our shared story and wish him all the best in his next step.”

Noor added: “My passion for technology and boats began when I served in the navy at eighteen, and that love will always remain.”

And he concluded: “He who loves the sea will always find his way back to the water.”
