Canadian-based VoltSafe has completed the first pilot installation of its next-generation shore power system at Florida’s Sun Harbor Marina.
The installation has been carried out in partnership with the Port of San Diego’s Blue Economy Incubator (BEI) programme and comes a couple of months after VoltSafe was selected to take part.
“Going from acceptance into the BEI programme in August to a fully installed system at Sun Harbor this fall is proof of how fast meaningful innovation can move when the right partners come together,” said Trevor Burgess, CEO and co-founder of VoltSafe.
“The Port of San Diego isn’t just supporting new ideas, they’re helping build the next generation of sustainable marina infrastructure.
We’re grateful to collaborate with a team that shares our vision for safety, simplicity, and responsible electrification.

“This first installation is only the beginning, and we’re grateful to collaborate with a team that shares our vision for safety, simplicity, and responsible electrification.”
VoltSafe is due to install more units in San Diego in 2026 as a part of its work in the BEI.
The company has developed a smart electrical plug that has eliminated prings and instead uses magnets and an ‘electrical fingerprint’.
The Port’s Blue Economy Incubator tests emerging technologies in real-world settings, giving later stage start-ups the opportunity to scale up.
Successful pilots in the region will accelerate the company’s commercial rollout across high-demand coastal markets worldwide.
