STP Shipyard Palma carrying out an investment of almost €8 million in an extension of its yard.
STP Shipyard Palma, known for its refit and repair of luxury yachts, is extending its yard with the addition of five new berths suitable for yachts up to 110 metres LOA.
The investment of nearly €8 million increases the area of the yard from 130,000sqm to 162,000sqm, with 102,000sqm on the hard and 60,000sqm in the water.
This expansion will help STP meet a growing demand for high-end services for superyachts.
“Over the years we’ve received numerous requests for berths for yachts of this size, and with this expansion we’ll finally be able to meet this demand,” said Joan Rosselló, CEO of STP.
The first phase of the works is already underway, focusing on the preparation of the new docking area and the installation of the infrastructure to guarantee end-to-end service for superyachts.
In addition to expanding its berthing areas, STP has also focused on enhancing the operational efficiency of its facilities, reorganising work areas to optimise processes and cut response times.
The shipyard is also creating a covered area for mast repairs, as well as the improvement of general infrastructure, for greater quality and speed in the services on offer.
The expansion project will incorporate energy-efficient solutions with the installation of solar panels and energy storage systems to slash the yard’s carbon footprint and help preserve the environment.
The investment is anticipated to create new jobs and increase the stature of Mallorca as a first-class yachting destination.
The expansion is also expected to generate a substantial increase in the yard’s annual turnover.
The new berths are scheduled to be operational by the end of 2024, while the rest of the works are scheduled for completion in spring 2025.
