Superyacht navigation management company dsnm has completed its acquisition of NavigatX.
The acquisition brings navigation software, management services, bridge hardware support and refit capability into one business.
dsnm, founded 25 years ago, supports a fleet of almost 700 vessels through a team of 35 specialists.
Its services include navigation management, passage-planning software, technical assistance and crew training, with a focus on safety, efficiency and regulatory compliance.
NavigatX was established four years ago as a sister company to address demand for bridge refits, marine electronics and hardware support following the UK Hydrographic Office’s planned withdrawal of paper charts.
International superyacht sector
The company has worked on yachts up to 140 metres in length and developed partnerships with SEA.AI, FarSounder, Furuno, Wärtsilä, MIMO Connect and WASSP.
The acquisition forms part of dsnm’s strategy to expand within the international superyacht sector.
The company says the combined operation is now the largest independently owned maritime navigation business offering both navigation management and full hardware support.
“Our ambition has always been to support our yachts and their crews with the knowledge, expertise and accountability sitting within our own team,” said chief operating officer Alicia Store.
“Acquiring NavigatX means we can now offer navigation management, our own software, bridge hardware expertise and product supply all under one organisation.”
dsnm says centralising the businesses will provide yacht owners and crews with a single team and point of accountability for bridge systems.
