Northrop & Johnson has completed the sale of the seized 82m Oceanco Alfa Nero superyacht, with yacht broker Richard Higgins representing the buyer.
The deal – said to be around $40 million was completed in ten days.
The yacht was seized by the Antiguan Government in April 2023 after its purported owner Russian fertiliser tycoon and close associate of Vladimir Putin, Andrey Guryev – appeared on international sanctions lists after the February 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
Since the vessel was seized, repeated attempts have been made to sell with US$67.6 million pledged by former Google boss Eric Schmidt at an auction in June 2023.
The deal failed to conclude due to legal issues with Andrey Guryev’s daughter, Yulia Guryeva-Motlokhov, claiming to be the Alfa Nero’s rightful owner.
It is understood the Antiguan Government has indemnified the new purchaser for any future loss or liability such as from third party claims.
Alfa Nero was built by Dutch shipyard Oceanco and delivered in 2007. The yacht was crafted by Italian design firm Nuvolari-Lenard, with her interior by Alberto Pinto Design.
The main deck features a swimming pool that transforms into a dance floor or helicopter landing pad with the entire upper deck dedicated to the owner.
The yacht also features an elevator, a private office and custom-built tenders for added convenience.
The interior of Alfa Nero has a monochrome colour palette accented by pops of colour, art and diverse textures. She accommodates up to 16 guests, attended by a crew of 28.
