Lymington Boat Makers Ltd – formerly Scorpion Ribs Ltd – has appointed administrators.

The Hampshire based RIB builder appointed Nicola Layland and Carl Faulds both of Leonard Curtis on March 21 2024.

In October 2023, the RIB builder announced it was to strengthen its brand across the UK and Europe with the backing of two new private investors who were to become shareholders in the company.

The brand was hoping the investment would enable the development of new models as well as an expansion to the workforce.

According to Companies House website, the latest accounts up to June 30 2023 are overdue.

The accounts up to June 30 2022 show net assets of £98,314.

The company registered its change of name from Scorpion Ribs to Lymington Boat Makers in March 2024.

Scorpion Ribs has been represented in the UK and Europe by Ancasta International Boat Sales which presented Scorpion’s new Sting 10m Open at the Southampton International Boat Show in September 2023.

It was reported that many serious buyers booked sea trials with potential owners remarking on the new layout and high-quality finish.

A post on Scorpion Rib’s Facebook page depicted the last Scorpion rolling out of the Lymington factory and called for a new team to take on the brand.
