Fabian Bez stepped down from his role as CEO of Torqeedo by mutual agreement and left the company board.
Torqeedo has now downsized its management board to two members, Takayuki Sato and Heiko Vietmeier.
Heiko Vietmeier will has taken on the role of CEO in addition to his position as CFO, which he has held since November 2022.
Fabian was appointed as CEO in October 2022.
During his tenure as CEO, Torqeedo says Fabian contributed significantly to the successful development of the company.
“With him on board, Torqeedo has further consolidated its position as the global market leader for electric mobility on the water,” said Takayuki Sato.
“On behalf of Yamaha Motor, I would like to thank Fabian Bez, for his dedicated work.”
Heiko added: “We would like to express our sincere thanks to our colleague Fabian Bez for his dedication. With his support, Torqeedo has made decisive progress.
“We wish him all the best for his future professional and personal endeavors.”
Torqeedo was acquired by Yamaha in 2024.
The announcement follows on from news that selected Torqeedo outboards will be available through the Yamaha dealer network in eight European countries starting from January 2025.
The merger of the dealer networks marks a further milestone in the two companies’ integration process and is aimed at strengthening Torqeedo’s distribution structures.
The range will include the Travel Ultralight (1-3hp equivalent), the Travel Family (2-5hp equivalent), and the more powerful Cruise models (6-25hp equivalent).
“We are delighted to broaden our presence through Yamaha’s extensive and reliable dealer network,” explained Timm Burmeister, director global business development.
“This partnership not only enhances our ability to introduce our innovative drive technologies to additional dealers, but also leverages local expertise and deep market knowledge.”
