ePropulsion appoints global OEM director

Marine electric-propulsion company ePropulsion has appointed Yann Herriot as global OEM director, with responsibility for developing partnerships with boatbuilders, naval architects, designers and dealer networks.

Herriot joins ePropulsion with international experience in electrical engineering, energy management, boatbuilding and marine technical services.

His work has covered power systems, energy storage, renewable technologies and the installation of electric propulsion on new-build and refit projects.

Seven years ago, he founded electric-boat start-up Orphie Boats, gaining experience across vessel design, construction and propulsion integration.

He later managed a marine technical-service operation supporting brands including Bali and Dufour.

Dealer networks

At ePropulsion, Herriot will lead global OEM strategy and work with shipyards from the earliest stages of vessel development.

He will also support boatbuilder dealer networks, linking manufacturers, dealers and users as the company broadens its offering from propulsion products to integrated onboard energy systems.

“My original motivation for starting my own company seven years ago was to contribute to the transition of leisure boating towards cleaner propulsion and more sustainable practices,” Herriot said.

“My goal is for leading shipyards to see ePropulsion as the best platform for electric propulsion and onboard energy management within their production lines.”

ePropulsion chief executive Danny Tao added: “Yann brings a unique combination of technical expertise, boatbuilding experience and first-hand knowledge of electric propulsion integration.”
