Italian shipyard Next Yacht Group has acquired metal fabrication and mechanical engineering company SIMAN.
The acquisition will enable Next Yacht Group to expand its production capacity and strengthen its supply chain across Viareggio, Pisa and La Spezia through SIMAN’s facilities.
In addition, a new division will be established dedicated to the construction of metal superyachts.
Alongside the acquisition, the Group has launched a €20 million development plan, €11 million of which has already been deployed.
The plan aims to enhance production facilities, consolidate the Group’s order book supporting the growth of Maiora and AB Yachts and enable full profitability to be achieved by 2027.
Ongoing contracts
SIMAN was founded in 1988 and specialises in mechanical engineering, propulsion systems, and refit and maintenance services for yachts up to 60 metres in length. The company has 70 direct employees.
The company also operates in the commercial maritime and defense sectors and has a portfolio of ongoing contracts, including major projects for the Italian Navy.
New metal yacht projects for both Maiora and AB Yachts are already under development, while the first 50-metre Maiora is currently under construction.
The first new models will be unveiled by the end of 2026.

“The acquisition of SIMAN represents a natural evolution of our industrial growth strategy,” explained Mario Petroni, chairman of Next Yacht Group.
“This transaction expands our manufacturing capabilities in the strategically important metal yacht segment while strengthening a highly specialised Italian industrial supply chain.
“At the same time, it creates new opportunities for growth, innovation and employment.”
Over the coming months, Next Yacht Group plans to recruit up to 30 additional employees, while SIMAN is expected to add approximately 15 new positions.
The acquisition was by Continental Investment Srl, an entity under the same ownership as Next Yacht Group.
