MDL Marinas has acquired a 3.2-acre plot at Lower William Street in Southampton.

The site – which has prime waterfront and deep-water access – represents a strategic acquisition for MDL and will enable the marina operator to expand its operations across both its Shamrock Quay and nearby Saxon Wharf Marina.

The short-term and long-term development opportunities will allow MDL to extend the services offered to its berth holders, visitors and other marina businesses.

These could include the expansion of MDL’s dry stack services, boat storage and increased car parking, as well as enhanced superyacht berthing and expanded boat manufacturing facilities.

Potential

The land, officially designated as Millstone Point, is currently owned and operated by Oil Spill Response Limited and incorporates a building with offices, which MDL plans to rent out to potential tenants.

“Today marks a pivotal moment for MDL Marinas as we proudly unveil our latest expansion in Southampton waters,” says Michael Glanville, MDL Marinas MD. “With the acquisition of the 3.2-acre plot, we’re not only securing prime waterfront real estate but also reaffirming our long-term commitment to growth and innovation.”

He added: “This strategic move positions Shamrock Quay to become one of the UK’s largest trading boatyards, demonstrating our dedication in serving the boating community with excellence, offering unparalleled facilities and services to all our marina customers.”

MDL’s Shamrock Quay Marina has 255 berths with services and facilities including refit and boat building, specialist marine trades and a 70m superyacht berth, as well as The Bistro Shamrock Quay bar and restaurant.
