Nimbus cuts quarterly loss as order book rises

Nimbus Group reduced its third-quarter operating loss while holding sales broadly stable, as a defence order and new model launches lifted its order book to SEK 605 million.

Net sales for July to September 2026 increased 1% to SEK 265 million, from SEK 263 million a year earlier.

Commercial sales were SEK 163 million and retail sales SEK 102 million. EBITA improved to a loss of SEK 17 million from a SEK 45 million loss, while the EBITA margin narrowed to -6.6% from -17.1%.

Order intake rose to SEK 522 million from SEK 212 million. The quarter-end order book increased from SEK 358 million to SEK 605 million, including SEK 260 million for boats ordered by the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2027 and continue over three years.

For the first nine months, net sales fell 12% to SEK 1.001 billion. Commercial sales declined to SEK 571 million from SEK 706 million, while retail sales were broadly unchanged at SEK 430 million.

Higher gross margin

Nine-month EBITA was a SEK 22 million loss, compared with SEK 32 million, and free cash flow improved to SEK 73 million from negative SEK 80 million.

“In the third quarter, Nimbus Group sales were in line with last year. This supports our assessment that the market is stabilising at a low level and marks a shift from the negative trend seen in recent years,” said president and chief executive Johan Inden.

Nimbus said higher gross margin and lower operating expenses supported the quarterly improvement. Available liquidity was SEK 229 million at the end of September.

The group is continuing efficiency measures and capacity reductions at EdgeWater, where it has stopped manufacturing Nimbus-branded boats and is reviewing the operation’s long-term future.

During the quarter, Nimbus began producing autonomous unmanned surface vessels for Nautrik AB. The first batch completed acceptance and verification testing, although prototype volumes have so far had limited financial impact.

Nimbus also introduced the Sport Tender 35 and Sport Weekender 42 Open, while the Sport Coupé 35 is due to make its world premiere at boot Düsseldorf in January 2027.

Inden added: “While we have made meaningful progress, there is still work to be done, and we remain fully committed to driving the business forward with focus and determination.”
