Boatbuilding resumes at Broom Boats

After a five-year break, boatbuilding has resumed at Broom Boats with the production of its first new boat since 2019 – the Broom Admiral.

The announcement follows on from the acquisition of the business by Clive and Victoria Richardson in August 2024.

The Richardsons also own Horning Pleasurecraft which has operations in Brundall Marina.
“We are incredibly excited to embark on this new project and showcase the expertise of our talented team,” said Clive.

“The Broom Admiral is a true reflection of everything we stand for: quality, precision, and a passion for creating boats that stand the test of time. It’s an exciting moment not just for our team, but for the entire Horning Pleasurecraft family.”

The Broom Admiral has been designed to incorporate modern features that cater to the demands of today’s boating enthusiasts.

As work begins, the Richardsons say the team is committed to delivering a boat that upholds the legacy of the Broom brand, while looking forward to the future of maritime innovation.

“Although this first boat is designated for Broom’s own luxury charter fleet, this milestone represents a significant step forward for Broom Boats and opens the door to the possibility of building private boats once again in the future,” added Victoria.

Broom Boats, based in Norfolk, UK, was founded more than 125 years’ ago.

The company – under different ownership – announced it was ceasing boat production in 2018 after around 120 years due to major losses caused by low customer demand, overseas competition and rising costs.
