Hunyvers marine dealerships evacuated

Hunyvers marine dealerships in the Gironde and the Landes districts in France have been evacuated due to the wildfires affecting the region.

In a statement updating the operational situation, Hunyvers said the marine dealerships Chantiers Navals du Bassin d’Arcachon, Groupe Nautic, Marine Plaisance Service and Pneumarine Services, as well as some CaraMaps employees have been affected.

Three of the company’s four marine dealerships have been evacuated, with the teams have not yet authorised to return to their offices.

The dealerships themselves have so far been spared by the flames, however, with navigation currently prohibited on the Arcachon Basin and on Lake Biscarrosse/Navarrosse, operations are temporarily suspended.

Hunyvers says it hopes to resume activities shortly, subject to developments in the situation and decisions by the authorities.

Evacuation order

“Above all, we are relieved to confirm that all affected employees are safe and well,” said the company’s statement.

“Employees living in the affected areas have been able to find shelter with family and friends.

“The teams based in Bordeaux are not subject to an evacuation order, however, the dense smoke currently covering the metropolitan area does not allow work to continue in suitable conditions. Employees have therefore been asked to prioritise working from home.”

The Limoges headquarters is continuing to operate.

The statement continued: “The entire management team remains fully mobilised to support employees affected by this ordeal and provide all necessary assistance, both personally and organisationally.

“The Hunyvers Group also wishes to express its full support and deep gratitude to the firefighters, emergency services, volunteers and everyone working on the ground to protect communities and limit the consequences of these fires.

“Some employees have not hesitated to use every means at their disposal to assist the emergency services; they too deserve our thanks.

“In these difficult times, solidarity and mutual support are more essential than ever.

“Together, we will do everything possible to overcome this ordeal and enable our teams and operations to return gradually to normal.”

Hunyvers Nautic

The evacuations come as Hunyvers splits off its marine dealerships and establishes Hunyvers Nautic.

Hunyvers entered the marine segment in 2020 and has since expanded its distribution network to become a significant player in the French boating industry.

The company now has 14 marine dealerships and the decision to establish Hunyvers Nautic is aimed at strengthening the brand’s visibility while providing a unified umbrella experience for customers.

Hunyvers was founded in 2006, initially concentrating on the recreational vehicle sector.
