ePropulsion electric outboard chosen to power RS RIB

RS Marine Group has chosen ePropulson’s X Series electric outboards to power the group’s Cheetah R630 EV-ready RIB.

The 6.3m Cheetah R630 has been designed, in conjunction with RS Electric Boats, with efficiency in mind.

Features include a cathedral hull, designed to push less water and get on the plane at lower speeds. It is equipped with either 22kWh or 43kWh battery packs.

“We’re delivering on our strategy to provide EV-ready craft,” explained Jon Partridge, RS Marine Group CEO. “The marine sector has definitely woken up to the fact that we need to make a decisive change and we are excited to be working with ePropulsion as our power supplier.”

He added: “Our partnership began with the RS21, which comes with a built in 1kW ePropulsion unit. This early collaboration helped form the idea for RS Electric Boats.”

Steve Bruce, ePropulsion global OEM director, added: “The X-Series motors are a testament to our commitment to advancing technology in electric marine propulsion…During testing, the X-40 demonstrated remarkable results, affirming its alignment with the R630’s innovative design.”

The boat will be shown at the RYA Dinghy & Watersports Show, taking place at Farnborough International on 24-25 February 2024.
