Swedish electric boat company X Shore has been appointed the official supplier of jury and support boats for the 2026 World Sailing Open Team Racing World Championships.
The event is organised by Gamla Stans Yacht Sällskap (GSYS) and will take place on Riddarfjärden in central Stockholm, with its goal to become the world’s most sustainable sailing event and the first of its kind in Europe.
The collaboration will begin in May 2025, with X Shore’s electric boats used as starting vessels during the Stockholm International Team Race (SITR).
“We are extremely proud to contribute our boats to what aims to become the world’s most sustainable team sailing world championship – from recycling to fossil-free operations,” explained René Hansen, CEO of X Shore.
“Sailing and electric propulsion share the same values: quiet, clean, and in harmony with nature. At the same time, we’re seeing a strong increase in interest from the professional sector.”
Being able to use X Shore’s electric boats during the championship aligns perfectly with our vision.

Magnus Myrenberg, project manager for the 2026 World Championship, added: “Being able to use X Shore’s electric boats during the championship aligns perfectly with our vision.
“We want to show that a world-class competition can be held in the heart of a capital city without compromising the environment.”
X Shore’s models include the X Shore 1, the company’s flagship Eelex 8000, and the modular workboat X Shore PRO.
The company was recently named an EU Blue Champion by the European Commission and the European Investment Bank (EIB).
GSYS has long worked to connect sailing with environmental responsibility.
The 2025 event will take place 28 May to 1 June at the New York Yacht Club in Newport, RI, United States, supported by US Sailing.
The event, which hasn’t been held for ten years, will incorporate a new 2 x 2 format with two boats racing against two other boats.
