Ulrich Manigel has been appointed as MD of the International Marine Certification Institute (IMCI).
Ulrich has worked for IMCI since 2002, and for the last eight years as general manager and director of certification.
He holds a degree as master craft boatbuilder, and has worked in the recreational craft industry for more than 30 years.
Ulrich has participated as an expert on several ISO/Technical Committee 188 working groups for Small Craft and has represented IMCI at Recreational Craft Sectoral Group meetings.
In addition, he has given numerous lectures and workshops about CE certification of boats and components.

He also serves as a boat and yacht inspector for the National Marine Manufacturers Association and is the chair of the German Surveyor’s Association, VBS e.V.
Ulrich Manigel replaces Ulrich Heinemann, who retired from the company on December 31 2024.

“His extensive experience and commitment to certification and safe boating makes him the ideal executive to lead IMCI and extend its worldwide service to customers.”

“I look forward to continuing to work with the outstanding professional team at IMCI’s head office and with the IMCI inspectors who are committed to serving the needs for certification of all marine industry associations with their members, as well as other stakeholders, while upholding the spirit of IMCI as a non-for-profit organisation.”
