After more than 25 years, Uli Heinemann is to step down from his role at the helm of the International Marine Certification Institute (IMCI).
He will be succeeded by Ulrich Manigel who took on the position of general manager of IMCI at the beginning of 2024.
Uli is leaving at his own request to take on other challenges.
“After signing more than 67,700 certificates, it is time for me to start a new phase in my life,” he explained. ”However, I will remain loyal to the industry and continue to work as a consultant and assessor in the areas of CE, UKCA and NMMA certifications. I can hardly imagine a life outside of this industry.”
He added: “The inspectors of IMCI and the staff at the head office are the main pillars of the company.
“With their extensive expertise and experience, they are at the forefront of ensuring the success of the certification business. I have truly grown fond of this group.”
He continued: ‘I look forward to continuing to work closely with them in the future and to remaining part of this truly strong team as an inspector.’
And Uli Heinemann praised his successor stating: “Mr. Manigel has been with us for 22 years and has worked his way up to positions of responsibility since he joined us.
“His in-depth understanding of the certification business is paying off today.”
And he said that with his many years of experience, Uli Heinemann has laid a strong foundation for the future of the Brussels based notified body.
Ulrich Manigel has been a member of the IMCI head office team since 2002.
IMCI is the largest CE certifier in the water sports industry.
