YANMAR Marine International (YMI) has partnered with Aspen Power Catamarans, a move that will see YANMAR’s 4LV250 engine fitted on board Aspen’s C100 model.
The partnership will integrate YANMAR’s advanced diesel engine technology with Aspen’s patented Power Proa hull design.
The lightweight YANMAR engine will complement Aspen’s full displacement hull, for optimal cruising and fuel efficiency with the YANMAR 4LV250 engine achieving 4.1mpg at 18mph.
“In selecting YANMAR over other brands, we considered several factors,” said Larry Graf, Aspen’s founder and chief engineer.
“YANMAR’s reputation for reliability, expansive service network, and innovative technology, as well as the smooth, clean operation of the engine, coupled with easy cold starts, are key factors that align perfectly with Aspen’s commitment to quality and long-term customer satisfaction.”
The C100 has an overall length of 34ft 8in with a 10ft beam and a 2ft 7in draft. The cockpit is used as a multifunction space while interior features include a dinette area that seats four and converts to a double berth.
Acceleration
Accommodation forward includes a master suite with a king-size berth and a separate enclosed head with shower.
The YANMAR 4LV250 has a 2.8 litre displacement delivering low-end torque and acceleration.
The engine exceeds EPA Tier 4 and EU RCD Stage 2 emissions regulations and provides virtually odour-free and smoke-free operation.
It has direct connectivity to NMEA and J1939 CAN-bus networks.
Larry continued: “I’ve been building catamarans for the last 30+ years, and I have never had a product that has run this eco-friendly, it’s twice the efficiency of a trawler at double the speed.”
Kevin Carlan, president, YANMAR Marine International Americas, added: “We are delighted to be embarking on this journey with Aspen Power Catamarans.
“This partnership represents a fusion of expertise and innovation as we integrate our advanced diesel engine technology with Aspen’s patented Power Proa hull design.”
