ZeroJet opens UK sales office

New Zealand based electric propulsion company ZeroJet has opened a sales office in Southampton, UK, headed by Declan Price and Matt Forbes.

ZeroJet’s first product is an 18kW electric jet propulsion unit that offers small boat owners a combination of electric and hydrodynamic technologies.

The integrated electric motor and jet pump enables a compact unit with no combustible emissions.

And the product is already being incorporated into hull designs by boatbuilders including Prestol Composites and Latvian based boatbuilder SPARK Boats.

“We have outgrown our ability to meet the high level of interest and support required to service the European market, so timing is right to build our European team,” explained CEO Mark Robotham.

“ZeroJet’s intellectual property with its compact electric motor and system, combined with the exciting user experience and more importantly the impressive list of boat builders who are creating great boats with our systems makes ZeroJet a company worth watching.”

Records

ZeroJet was founded by Neil Mans and Bex Rempel whose background in high performance powered surfboards, resulting in a number of records including 75 km/hr electric powered vessels.

Their business changed direction in 2019 when they decided to apply their technologies into the small boat arena.

“Up until now, there simply weren’t enough options for climate-conscious boat enthusiasts who wanted a boat that was not only environmentally friendly but fun to drive,” said ZeroJet CTO and co-founder Neil Mans.

“We want to bring the buzz into electric boats rather than the traditional putt-putt solutions available previously for small boats.”

The company’s Generation 2 system was shown at METSTRADE 2023. A partnership with RIB manufacturer Highfield Boats, was recognised in the Supply Chain Collaboration category of the Boatbuilder Awards.
