Van der Valk reveals 30m NEXO concept

Van der Valk Shipyard has unveiled Project NEXO, a 30-metre crossover yacht concept developed with Dutch design studio Phathom.

The design focuses on adaptable indoor and outdoor spaces for owners seeking a yacht that can support cruising, watersports, exercise and extended time on board.

At the stern, a two-level beach club includes a central hot tub and opening side terraces. A concealed garage beneath the deck provides storage for a tender and water toys, while a hydraulic swim platform creates direct access to the water.

The foredeck uses a liftable bow platform that can be configured for sunbathing, outdoor exercise or cinema use with a raised screen. The arrangement is intended to increase the yacht’s usable deck area without changing its exterior profile.

Minimalist approach

On the main deck, the saloon opens aft and on both sides to connect with exterior terraces. A sliding bar on the port side can be repositioned for different service arrangements, while a rotating starboard sofa can face outwards and become part of the external seating area.

A full-beam owner’s suite is located forward on the main deck and includes an integrated en suite. The upper deck lounge can be specified as an indoor-outdoor dining space, gym or spa, depending on the owner’s requirements.

Phathom’s interior proposal uses stone, linen and leather, together with planting and organic textures. The design adopts a minimalist approach and places emphasis on natural light, sea views and movement between enclosed and open areas.

The NEXO name is derived from New Experience X-Over. Van der Valk describes the yacht as a crossover because individual spaces can serve several purposes and the layout reduces the separation between interior and exterior areas.
