The new Expedition 125 House Forward is the latest model from Ruby Yachts, a custom built-to-order full-displacement yacht designed for long-distance cruising and self-sufficient operation.
The US-built model is offered as a 125ft yacht, with the Expedition Series available in lengths up to 300ft. It typically uses a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, although all-steel or all-aluminium versions can also be specified.
The 125ft version has a 28ft beam, 7ft draught and accommodation for up to ten guests, with five staterooms plus crew accommodation and seven heads plus crew facilities. Tankage includes 11,000 gallons of diesel, 3,000 gallons of water and 200 gallons of holding capacity.
Propulsion is by twin Caterpillar C32 ACERT engines rated at 750hp, giving a cruising speed of 8 knots and a maximum speed of 10 knots.
Collaboratively developed
The model is co-designed by Ruby Yachts and Whitacre Yacht Design Naval Architects, with the interior layout developed collaboratively between Ruby Yachts and the owner.
The master stateroom can be arranged on the pilothouse deck, main deck or lower deck, while owners can specify design and construction changes as part of the custom-build process.
Ruby Yachts says the Expedition 125 House Forward will be certified by the National Marine Manufacturers Association in accordance with American Boat & Yacht Council standards, with additional certification available where required.
Founded by Russ Thomas in 2000, Ruby Yachts USA specialises in ocean-crossing vessels from 43ft to 125ft.
