MC-ZERO appoints industry veteran as CEO

MC-ZERO, builder of carbon fibre, electric-powered jet vessels, has appointed Chris Baird as chief executive officer.

In his new role, Baird will oversee the company’s direction, product development initiatives and global expansion.

Baird brings more than 25 years of leadership experience across varied marine sectors, including at brands Navman, Fusion, Garmin and Propspeed.

MC-ZERO was created from a collaboration between international racing yacht and luxury yacht builder McConaghy Boats and New Zealand-based electric propulsion solution provider ZeroJet, where Baird most recently served as executive director of international sales and marketing.

“Chris is the ideal leader to introduce MC-ZERO to the marketplace,” said James Morton, CEO of ZeroJet.

“His proven track record of scaling innovative businesses, combined with his deep understanding of customer experience and emerging technologies, makes him uniquely qualified to advance our joint mission of delivering the world’s most advanced electric tenders.”

Exciting innovator

“MC-ZERO is quickly establishing itself as one of the most exciting innovators in the marine sector,” said Baird.

“The team has crafted a truly differentiated product that aligns with the future of boating.

“I am honoured to join the team and look forward to building on this strong foundation as we deliver exceptional experiences for customers around the world and redefine tenders.”

Baird’s appointment comes as MC-ZERO prepares to manufacture its 4.5-metre and 3.25-metre tenders.
