Moore Brothers Company of Bristol, Rhode Island, has partnered with the 400F team to represent the project across the US, Canada and the Caribbean while also serving as the North American build and development partner.
The 40OF is a full-foiling offshore race yacht designed by Wilson/Marquinez Naval Architecture and developed to bring cutting-edge foiling technology into offshore sailing through an accessible and manageable platform.
The yacht builds on the design DNA of the 69F project, with the builders saying that it combines performance, safety and accessibility in a way not previously seen in offshore foiling monohulls.
The 40ft yacht is designed by Nahuel Wilson and Laureano Marquinez of MW Naval Architecture and Yacht Design and has four sailing modes: displacement, foil-assisted, stern-down foiling and full-flight foiling from approximately 12 knots of wind speed.
The foil and keel work together to maximise foiling capacity, with the boat able to continue foiling through changes in wind strength and waves.
Offshore racing class
Moore Brothers has joined an international development team that is bringing the 40OF to market as an offshore racing class.
The team also includes Sailing Architect BV and Pablo Bottacchi for development, marketing and sales and Evolution Marine which is the build and development partner for South Africa, South America and the Middle-East.
Logistics will be by Pindar.
“The 40OF is about creating a new benchmark in offshore performance sailing,” said Nahuel Wilson and Laureano Marquinez.
“By joining forces with Moore Brothers, we strengthen our ability to deliver the yacht to owners throughout North America while combining world-class design, engineering and craftsmanship.”
For Moore Brothers, the project is an opportunity to support the application of high-performance concepts to new and different arenas within the world of sailing.
