Storrar Marine, based in the North East of England, has been acquired by global superyacht company, West Nautical.
The chandlery, which was voluntarily wound up earlier in 2024 following financial difficulties caused by the Covid lockdowns and the financial crisis, has been renamed Marine Chandlery and will reopen on June 8.
West Nautical was founded in the UK in 2014 by Geoff Moore, whose marine career incorporated time at sea on both commercial ships and superyachts.
He has since grown the company into a full-service superyacht company with its head office in Newcastle upon Tyne as well as international offices in more than five locations.
The new Marine Chandlery headquarters at Tyne Tunnel Trading Estate will offer in-person service and enhanced digital accessibility, catering to the diverse needs of boat owners across the region and further afield.
The team also plan to stream and modernise the services to ensure the company continues to meet and exceed expectations of boat owners across the region as well as revitalising the local maritime community.
The company aims to be a leading service provider in both inboard and outboard boats along with trailer servicing providing effective customer service and support.
Storrar Marine was founded in 1973 by Rob Storrar as a sail loft in North Shields, UK.
The business has moved and expanded several times and in 2010 launched marinechandlery.com in a bid to reach more customers.
The chandlery was managed by Andy Burgess.
