Wescom Group receives Lloyds Register approvals

Wescom Group’s emergency rations have received global approvals from Lloyds Register.

The new products are the culmination of internal investment expanding Wescom Group’s European production facilities in Bremerhaven, Germany.

The investment has enabled large scale, automated production under European food quality standards and the updated 2022 ISO regulations for emergency rations.

“Our investment in a state-of-the-art production factory in Germany, together with our comprehensive range of high-quality survival products from globally recognised brands, gives our distributors and suppliers unprecedented reach for the supply and support of life raft survival solutions to its customers worldwide,” said Wescom Group CEO Ross Wilkinson.

The new Comet and Pains Wessex branded emergency rations range include emergency drinking water and emergency rations survival pack.

The water pack is manufactured to German hygiene control standards and packed in nitrogen-rich air and watertight alu-foil. The product has a five-year shelf life and is globally approved to meet ISO standard 18813:2022 and directive (EU) 2020/2184.

The rations pack has been developed to minimise size and conform to the latest ISO18813:2022 standards.

The rations also have a five-year shelf life, are vegan, use sustainable palm oil and are free of GMO.

The approvals come as Wescom Group opens its new UK-based electronics facility. The facility in Hull has been purpose-built and follows Wescom Group’s investment after the 2022 acquisition of MRT, which developed the sMRT brand for the offshore safety market.

The site allows for increased capacity of Wescom’s offshore range and will accelerate the delivery of the new sMRT distress beacons for the leisure and commercial marine markets.
