Vitters Shipyard has begun work on its new shed at its premises in Zwartsluis, Netherlands, with construction set to be completed in Spring 2025.

The expansion will allow the family-owned Dutch shipyard, which was founded in 1990, to work on larger projects.

“After 34 years, Vitters Shipyard continues to grow and innovate,” said the company in a statement. “In 1990, we were seen as the underdog in the industry, and some doubted whether we could successfully complete our first project.

“However, with a smaller team and a determination to succeed, we rose to the challenge and proved them wrong.”

The statement continued: “That same mindset remains at the heart of Vitters’ values.

“We strive to grow, innovate, and improve every day, constantly pushing the boundaries of what we can achieve.

“This approach not only increases our knowledge and expertise but also drives the physical expansion of our company. And now, we begin the construction of our new shed.”

The new shed will be 80 meters long, 30 meters wide, and 16 meters high.

Once completed, the shed will initially be used for the final outfitting of a 68-meter, classically styled sailing yacht for which the keel laying ceremony took place recently.

The ketch will feature a long overhang, classic lines and traditional finishes. The hull will be constructed of aluminium with delivery scheduled for summer 2026.

Vitters Shipyard specialises in building bespoke sailing yachts incorporating advanced technologies to enhance a user’s experience.

The company oversees all projects from the start and also looks after service and aftercare.

In addition to new builds, the company carries out maintenance, updating, and the renovation of yachts.
