New $5 million superyacht facility for Australia’s NSW

A new superyacht service facility is set to be developed in Australia’s New South Wales.

The maritime facility will be located at Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club with the intention to attract servicing of international super yachts.

The project has attracted AUD$5 million funding from the Minns Government as part of a broader investment in infrastructure projects in the region that demonstrate community benefits.

The new super yacht service facility is being constructed to attract, accommodate, service, and supply global super yachts.

The project is expected to deliver jobs and flow-on investment in the maritime, leisure, tourism sectors.

Newcastle’s new super yacht facility will bring in international vessels, create skilled marine jobs and grow the local economy.

Plans include purpose designed berths to accommodate super yachts over 30 metres, plus the expansion and enhancement of current marina operations.

In the 12 months leading up to commissioning of the new facility the NCYC will fund and deliver a national and Asia Pacific marketing program.

Once commissioned in October 2026, the facility will be ready to receive super yachts for the NSW summer season relieving pressure on Sydney and attracting the high yielding guests whose financial impacts on the local economy will be significant.

Global maritime services

“This funding backs regional communities with projects that create jobs, boost local businesses and improve services and forms part of the NSW Government’s plan to invest in projects in our regional and rural communities that deliver long-term benefits,” said Minister for Agriculture and Minister for Regional NSW, Tara Moriarty.

“Newcastle’s new super yacht facility will bring in international vessels, create skilled marine jobs and grow the local economy.

“This is a smart investment that puts the Hunter on the map for global maritime services, and will help drive local tourism, employment and training opportunities.”
