Nautipaints opens Sagunto refit base

Nautipaints Group has opened an operational base at VMG Astilleros de Sagunto in Valencia, expanding its capacity to support large-yacht refit and maintenance projects in the Mediterranean.

The facility serves all four group divisions. Nautipaints provides yacht painting and refit services, Nautiunderwater undertakes underwater hull and tank work, Nauticover supplies scaffolding and temporary structures, and Nautichandler handles marine supplies.

Modelled on the group’s existing facilities in Palma, Mallorca, the workshop includes dedicated preparation, painting, logistics, storage and technical-support areas. Teams will also work directly on yachts hauled out within the shipyard.

Nautipaints says it is strengthening its presence in the Mediterranean with the new base, expanding its capacity to support yacht refit and maintenance projects.

2,000 large-yacht painting projects

The site gives the company access to VMG’s 5,000-tonne yacht-dedicated shiplift. Developed with Pearlson Shiplift Corporation, the platform measures 102 metres by 22 metres and can accommodate yachts up to 125 metres long. VMG also provides refit areas and infrastructure for large-scale projects.

Nautipaints brings experience from more than 2,000 large-yacht painting projects across 19 locations and has worked on yachts up to 123 metres.

The group said the Sagunto operation would improve co-ordination between its specialist divisions and its response to owners, captains, yacht managers and technical teams.

VMG said it had already seen the group’s work on M/Y HBC.

“Their new operational base marks another step forward in strengthening the network of specialists working within our facilities,” said the shipyard.
