Largest-ever Sanlorenzo crossover yacht launched

Sanlorenzo has unveiled the largest-ever yacht in its crossover range.

The SX120 has a 270 GT tonnage and is 37-metres in length and is the first from the Italian shipyard to feature Volvo Penta’s new IPS Professional Platform.

The IPS system uses twin 1,000hp engines per pod, developed to delivering the same performance as larger engines with a smaller footprint, reduced fuel consumption, and lower emissions.

“Volvo Penta’s IPS Professional platform represents a technological evolution geared toward efficiency,” explained Nicola Pomi, VP Marine Sales Yacht and Superyacht Division.

“The system makes use of steerable units and hydrodynamically optimised counter-rotating propellers, which allow a significant reduction in energy losses and a marked improvement in manoeuvrability, especially at low speeds.”

SX120 represents the natural evolution of a range that has changed the way yachting is conceived.

A feature of the platform is the Eco Mode function, that automatically adjusts engine power based on real-time demand to optimise fuel consumption, reduce emissions and mechanical wear.

The propulsion is equipped with a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) exhaust gas treatment service.

Features of Sanlorenzo’s SX120 include a 70sqm beach area with opening side decks, a 360-degree panoramic view from the upper deck and a sun deck with configurable smart island.

The beach area includes a retractable swimming pool, which can be covered or uncovered through a lift and slide mechanism of the sundeck.

Natural evolution

“SX120 represents the natural evolution of a range that has changed the way yachting is conceived and redefined the experience of living on board, introducing a new idea of space, liveability and connection with the sea,” says Tommaso Vincenzi, Sanlorenzo CEO.

“The new flagship of the SX line combines functionality and aesthetics, simplicity and elegance, performance and sustainability in a single product.”

The vessel’s exteriors and interiors stem from the company’s collaboration with Zuccon International Project and Piero Lissoni.

“The Sanlorenzo SX120 is a project that is a manifesto of the evolutionary path that the SX range has taken in recent years,” explained Bernardo Zuccon head of Zuccon International Project.

“A journey that – with SX88, SX76, SX112 and then SX100 – has unequivocally demonstrated the concept’s ability to decline in different dimensions.”

The SX120 has four decks with interconnecting floors.

The SX120 will receive its debut at Cannes Yachting Festival 2025 taking place from 9 – 14 September.
