IBC Shipyard joins SEA Index Association

IBC Shipyard has joined the SEA Index Superyacht Eco Association, the first shipyard in the Caribbeam to achieve SEA Index Corporate Membership status.

The yacht maintenance and repair service provider joins European shipyards such as Monaco Marine and MB92 La Ciotat.

The shipyard aims to show its commitment to greater transparency in sustainability, operational excellence and marine ecosystem conservation by joining the association.

In addition, IBC will promote the SEA Index initiative and its environmental assessment tools among its clients, aimed at incentivizing the adoption of the SEA Index in this destination.

“For IBC Shipyard, joining SEA Index is a natural step in our commitment to environmental protection and excellence in luxury boating,” said Alice Caslini, marketing and social responsibility director of IB Náutica Group, which includes IBC Shipyard.

“We firmly believe that the future of luxury yachting must align with the principles of sustainability and SEA Index offers us a platform to actively contribute to this cause.”

SEA Index is an association and network dedicated to raising environmental awareness in the yachting industry, aiming to reduce CO₂ emissions and increase transparency in the marine industry.

The association was launched in 2020 by the Yacht Club de Monaco, under the aegis of the Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting initiative.

SEA Index provides stakeholders in the nautical sector with impartial tools and methodologies to measure and reduce the environmental impact of vessels.

The SEA Index certification program for the reduction of CO₂ emissions is based on the standards of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), including EEDI and EEXI, adapted for superyachts over 24 meters.

SEA Index aims to create an ecosystem of stakeholders, incentivizing the development of new sustainable solutions.

The association’s mission is to support and guide superyacht owners towards less energy-intensive yachting, promoting more eco-responsible practices in the sector.
