Grand Banks Yachts has completed the expansion of its new composite manufacturing facility in Pasir Gudang, Malaysia.
The expansion, the culmination of 18 months of work, extends the production site by 25% – a further 13,313sqm – bringing the yard’s total surface area to almost 65,032sqm.
The new facility will enable Grand Banks Yachts to bring its manufacturing process under one roof, optimizing control and command of the various production stages.
The new plant features advanced technologies, including 8-axis robots, a test tank and engineering labs which the shipbuilder says will enable larger yachts to be built with greater precision and efficiency and shorter delivery times.
Technology
The modernization is part of a global strategy to improve boat quality, increase internal efficiency and achieve economies of scale, explained Basil Chan, president of Grand Banks Yachts.
“The expansion is a critical part of our strategy to improve quality, internal efficiencies and generate economies of scale,” explained Basil Chan, president of Grand Banks Yachts.
“The enhancements in technology and processes will further strengthen our business foundation to better serve customers and add long-term value to our shareholders.”
And he said the new infrastructure helps to position Grand Banks Yachts more than ever as a major player in the high-end yacht building sector.
At the end of 2024, Grand Banks Yachts had a record an order book of S$109.8 million with demand for its yachts particularly high in North America.
