Baglietto has launched the first of eight yachts due to be launched in 2025.
L’Instant has exteriors designed by Stefano Vafiadis and interiors by Leonardo Santi, and is the first DOM mounting an interposed hybrid propulsion system – the power system with Lloyd’s Register-certified components recently introduced by the La Spezia-based shipbuilder.
This system consists of a diesel endothermic engine and an ultracompact hybrid unit fitted with an electrical motor installed between the main engine and the gearbox.
The two main Caterpillar C32 ACERT diesel engines are compatible with HVO bio fuels from renewable energy sources, which can reduce CO2eq emission up to 90%.
The electrical motor has a dual function: it works both as an electric propulsion motor, and as a shaft generator system.
Nine hours power
When cruising in full-electric mode, the high energy density battery-packs provide up to nine hours power at anchor.
Interior features include a galley on the lower deck with a VIP cabin accessed from the central lobby on the main deck.
This cabin and the master stateroom, located forward, have automated windows for ventilation and air exchange.
Both on the main deck and in the crew quarters, the internal staircases have been redesigned to connect all decks up to the sundeck.
The multi-purpose bar has been fitted with a dumbwaiter and the pool area has been replaced by an outdoor gym.
With the hybrid system taking up more technical space than a traditional one, the 5.80 m tender and the two jet skis have been moved to the upper deck, forward of the wheelhouse, with an additional 16Kn (1600kg capacity) davit for hauling and launching.
This yacht can reach a maximum speed of 17 knots when using the diesel engines and almost 10 knots in full electric mode.
