London-based Seabird Technologies has launched its Seabird 400X high-power electric outboard concept at METSTRADE 2024.
The exclusive manufacturer of the high performance all-electric foiling E1 raceboat The Racebird, believe the Seabird 400X is the next step in marine decarbonisation.
“At Seabird we are all about accelerating a cleaner future for the industry,” said Richard Draisey, Seabird Technologies CEO.
“Our ideas were born in the heat of competition and now we are excited to transfer our learning to commercial innovation.
“Our #ClearWater vision represents our ambition to set a new pace in electric propulsion whilst leaving the waters we cherish untouched.”
The Seabird 400X has been designed from the ground up and is described as a complete reimagining of what’s posible, not just a remoddling of a combustion outboard.
The motor will provide around an 800V electric powertrain and offer 400kW (530hp+) peak and 300kW (400hp) continuous power.
It will weigh around 200kg.
RaceBird boats are equipped with advanced electric propulsion systems and foiling technology, ensuring high performance with minimal environmental impact.
E1 is the first electric boat race series, dedicated to enhancing sustainability in the marine sector.
The Racebird travels at 50 plus knots with peak power of 150kW.
