Yacht broker Paul Daubner dies

Northrop & Johnson yacht broker Paul Daubner has died after a two year stage 4 cancer journey with his wife, Kimberly, by his side.

In a tribute to Paul, Northrop & Johnson said he was a revered member of the yachting industry who dedicated more than 30 years to the sea.

His marine career encompassed more than 15 years as a yacht and charter captain, experiencing the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans.

He later served as the West Coast Azimut Service, technical superintendent and project manager, providing yacht management services for some of the largest yachts on the West Coast.

In 2006, Paul’s specialisation in marine engineering, design and maintenance lead him to an interest in yacht brokerage and he joined Fraser Yachts California as a sales broker.

Earning the respect of his yachting industry peers, Paul was voted president of the San Diego Superyacht Association, working to promote San Diego as a mega and superyacht destination.

In 2009, he joined Northrop & Johnson as a sales broker where his passion for yachting was equaled by his love for life.

Paul was a truly cherished friend and team member.

“Whether closing a deal, guiding clients toward their dream yacht, or simply sharing stories of life on the water, his infectious enthusiasm and dedication left an indelible mark on everyone he met,” said a spokesperson from Northrop & Johnson.

“His expertise facilitated countless global yacht transactions throughout his career, earning him the trust and admiration of colleagues and clients.”

With a US Coast Guard Masters License, a broker’s license in California and as a member of several prestigious maritime organizations, Paul was considered an expert in the yachting industry.

Beyond his professional achievements, Paul found peace on the water, adventure on mountain slopes, and fulfillment in time spent with his family.

“We will forever remember Paul’s warmth, integrity, and the genuine passion he brought to his work and relationships,” said Northrop & Johnson president & CCO Cromwell Littlejohn.

“His presence was a guiding light in our industry, and his absence will be deeply felt. Fair winds and following seas Paul.”

Northrop & Johnson chairman Kevin Merrigan added: “Paul was a truly cherished friend and team member.

“He and his family will forever be members of our N&J family. We cannot convey how much he will be missed.” He leaves behind his beloved wife, Kimberly, his sons, Max and Jackson, daughter-in-law Charlotte, grandson, Hayes, and seven brothers and sisters.
