Two new hires for Avikus

Avikus, HD Hyundai’s Autonomous Navigation Technology subsidiary, has taken on two new hires with the appointment of Erik Irvin as technical support manager and Sung Yeon ‘Michell’ Hur as project specialist/project manager.

Erik and Michell will work with the team to drive brand awareness in the marine industry.

Erik has more than 20 years of experience in the marine industry, having held roles within leading marine service providers, where he headed various initiatives, led multidisciplinary teams and engineered service protocols.

His experience spans advanced marine systems, fiberglass and composite repair, hull refinishing, electronic systems integration, and large-scale infrastructure modernisation.

His career spans positions within Marine Max, Sailonyx, NauticEdge Consulting and Foster’s Yacht Services.

Michell has a multidisciplinary background in user experience and product design, and will support the US office and product development team at Avikus, leading the planning, execution and evaluation of AI-integrated marine technologies.

Design and usability standards

Her focus will be on ensuring Avikus’ products meet design and usability standards, working with with global teams and external agencies – including engineers, product designers, marketing, PR and consulting partners.

She will also contribute to customer experience quality assessments, field testing – both for engineering validation and user experience – and product showcases at industry events including boat and trade shows.

Michell’s work has been recognised by more than 80 international design awards, including Red Dot, IDA, European Product Design, Indigo, and Core7.
