Plans for a new marina at the Port of Vibo Marina in southern Italy have advanced after developer CADI secured an additional 384 square metres of concession space and approval for a revised layout incorporating six floating pontoons.
The Port System Authority of the Southern Tyrrhenian and Ionian Seas signed two supplementary maritime concession agreements.
The first agreement extends the maritime state-owned area available for vessel handling, refuelling and mooring.
The second incorporates changes to the marina’s design, replacing the previous berthing arrangement with floating pontoons intended to provide greater flexibility for different types of recreational vessels.
A multipurpose building of approximately 379 square metres will accommodate services for marina users and operational activities.
The project also includes a service quay and revisions to the fuel distribution system, which will be located on Fiume Quay within CADI’s existing concession.
Boating strategy
According to the authority, the fuel-system arrangement has been designed to maintain passenger services and avoid disruption to existing port operations.
The marina will bring moorings, refuelling, logistical support and ancillary facilities together within one development.
“The aim is not merely to provide new spaces, but to contribute to the creation of a marina capable of offering more modern, well-organised and high-quality services to the boating community,” said Piacenza.
And he linked the development to the authority’s wider recreational boating strategy, stating: “The growth of recreational boating is, in fact, a key component of the strategy to enhance the ports within our system and requires adequate infrastructure, high-quality services and strong collaboration with private operators.”
The project forms part of a programme to upgrade infrastructure and redevelop spaces across the authority’s five ports.
