UK Sailmakers Ireland has expanded its regional footprint and local network to cover Scotland, Wales and Northern England.
This growth aligns with the recent addition of UK Sailmakers GBR South West Falmouth-based loft formerly known as Penrose Sailmakers.
UK Sailmakers Ireland was originally founded as McWilliam Sailmakers with the aim of bringing the latest sailmaking technology to Irish sailors.
The loft has been under the leadership of Barry Hayes and Claire Morgan since 2017 and designs and build sails for both cruising and racing with a product range that includes UK Sailmakers X-Drive and Titanium sails.
Sail designer
Barry previously managed the main UK production facility for UK Sailmakers in Hong Kong and has been a sail designer with UK Sailmakers for more than 15 years.
UK Sailmakers GBR South West joined the UK Sailmakers network earlier in 2026. The business was established in 1825 and has been trading continuously from Falmouth Harbour.
The loft, headed by managing director Gavin Watson, has longstanding partnerships with Rustler Yachts, as OEM sailmaker since 2009, and with Pendennis Shipyard, one of the world’s leading superyacht refit facilities.
As well as building new sails, UK Sailmakers Ireland offers racing repairs, winter service, valeting, and storage, alongside technical support.
