U-Boat Worx Super Sub gains safety approval

U-Boat Worx new Super Sub submersible has been given safety approval from DNV having passed its sea trials and testing.

To obtain DNV certification, DNV surveyors were involved throughout the construction, reviewing components, processes, and systems to ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental protection, and vessel integrity.

“The Super Sub represents a major leap forward in personal submersible capability,” explained Wilbert Beilsma, commercial director of U-Boat Worx.

“Achieving DNV certification is a testament to the engineering excellence and dedication of our team. We’re entering a new chapter where private owners can explore the ocean at speeds once thought impossible.”

This certification brings us one step closer to seeing the Super Sub in action.

The news Super Sub has 100kW of horizontal thrust, a maximum speed of 9 knots and an operational range of 10 nautical miles.

The submersible incorporates a number of unique engineering solutions to ensure operational safety.

These include the ability to execute inclines and declines of up to 45 degrees underwater and a hyper-precise sonar system which scans the seabed, ensuring the submarine autonomously adjusts its trajectory and levels out into a parabolic path before reaching depths of 300 meters.

“This certification brings us one step closer to seeing the Super Sub in action,” added Roy Heijdra, head of marketing at U-Boat Worx.

“It’s not just a submarine, it’s an experience. The moment it dives, accelerates, and carves through the water at 9 knots, people will understand what makes the Super Sub unlike anything on the market.”
