Twisted acquires KS Composites

Twisted has acquired UK-based KS Composites, an engineering and advanced composites specialist.

The acquisition brings carbon fibre capability into the Twisted group, strengthening its engineering solutions.

The acquisition will also help Twisted accelerate its innovation, and secure supply for Twisted vehicles and marine products.

Twisted is made up of Twisted Automotive, Twisted Marine and now KS Composites.

Twisted Automotive is known for its recommissioning of the classic Land Rover Defender.

This is an important moment for the future of Twisted and an exciting step forward for both teams.

The company entered the marine sector with the acquisition of the Scorpion RIB brand in 2024 and manufactures a range of craft including the Tender Series and the flagship Scorpion 36GT.

Twisted Marine services encompass commissioning, servicing, storage, and complete refit packages.

The addition of KS Composites is the latest step in Twisted’s growth.

KS Composites brings over 40 years of experience as a manufacturer of advanced composite components.

The company has around 120 members who will remain in post.

The acquisition complements KS Composites’ existing markets and client base, allowing the business to continue operating independently while benefiting from the additional resources and opportunities afforded by Twisted.

Global growth

Managing director Jamie Smith will continue to lead KS Composites and has also joined the Twisted board of directors.

“As Twisted prepares for global growth, including increased activity in the USA, it requires carbon fibre engineering expertise and production capability that provides a genuine competitive advantage,” he said.

“KS Composites delivers that capability, and I am delighted to play a part in expanding what Twisted can design, build, and deliver.”

Jake Cronk, Twisted’s chief operating officer, added: “With KS’s expertise in composites and Twisted’s commitment to creating the best possible vehicles and marine products, we’re accelerating every major project we have in motion.

“This is an important moment for the future of Twisted and an exciting step forward for both teams. We’re strengthening our British engineering expertise while unlocking the next chapter as a global business.”

Alongside KS Composites’ existing operations, the acquisition will support Twisted’s product development and manufacturing plans, including new automotive builds, marine applications, and future advanced engineering projects.
