Tartan Yachts: new naval architect partnership, new affordable model

Tartan Yachts has announced a new partnership with naval architect Bill Prince of Bill Prince Yacht Design.

Through the partnership, Tartan and Prince will develop a new model that will expand the Tartan lineup.

The new design is anticipated to fall in the 27-30 foot range, billed as being a smaller, highly capable cruising yacht that brings the Tartan experience to an expanded audience.

The yacht will be designed to be more attainable, offering ‘an affordable entry point for sailors new to the brand, young families seeking meaningful time on the water, and couples looking for a refined weekend escape’.

Our goal is evolution without compromise.

However, the shipyard emphasises that while the yacht will be more compact in size, the new model will remain unmistakably Tartan.

Features are anticipated to include elegant lines, a balanced and responsive helm, practical deck ergonomics, and a thoughtfully crafted interior to reflect the heritage of the brand.

At the same time, the boat will incorporate modern hull efficiency, performance-focused design elements and comfort.

Another key feature of the project is flexibility with the new model offering a range of planned options with buyers able to customise interiors, equipment packages and performance features.

Exciting step forward

“Our goal is evolution without compromise,” said Jon Duer, CEO of Tartan Yachts.

“Bill understands what makes a Tartan a Tartan. Together, we’re building on that legacy—advancing performance and innovation while preserving the proportions, craftsmanship, and sailing experience that define our brand.”

And he added that the partnership signals a deliberate and exciting step forward for the brand, reinforcing its commitment to American design, engineering and yachts that reward those who love to sail.

Tartan Yachts is an American builder of sailboats and daysailers for cruising and performance sailors.
