The recreational boat market in Spain closed the first nine months of 2025 with 4,339 registrations – a 3.9% decrease compared to the same period in 2024 when there were 4,516 registrations.
The data is from the Recreational Boat Market Report January – September 2025, prepared by the Asociación Nacional de Empresas Náuticas (ANEN), based on records from the Directorate General of the Merchant Marine.
Although the figures remain negative, the decline is less than the 5.3% drop accumulated through August, indicating a stabilisation in the pace of the market.
Boats up to 6 meters accounted for 69.7% of the market, with 3,023 registrations, a decline of 4.1% compared to 2024.
Motorboats take market share
The 6 to 8 meter and 8 to 12 meter segments fell 3% and 4.6%, respectively, while boats from 12 to 16 meters fell 2.4%. Registrations of boats over 16 meters declined 6.4%.
Motorboats continue to lead the market with 1,783 registrations representing a 41.1% share. This was a drop of 5.4% compared to 2024.
Jet skis were the second most popular sector with 1,305 registrations – down 12.2% – followed by semi-rigid inflatable boats – down 8.7%).
Folding inflatable boat registrations grew by 44.7% with 521 registrations.
Charter market
The recreational boat rental market recorded 1,332 registrations between January and September, representing a 19.4% drop compared to 2024 when there were 1,653 registrations in the same period.
The decline is concentrated in boats up to 6 meters, which fell by 23.2%, and in semi-rigid inflatable boats, which fell by 26.3%.
Sailboats registered for charter use had a smaller decline of 15.2% compared to 2024.
With 589 registrations, the Balearic Islands continues to lead the market, despite a 19.9% decline. The Barcelona region had 527 registrations, remaining stable (+0.2%).
The provinces with the greatest growth were Murcia with 410 registrations, an increase of 81.4%, Pontevedra which had a 43.7% increase in registrations, Cádiz with a 26.5%, and Alicante with an increase of more than 17%).
